One Week Later

So, I arrived safely in South Korea on Sunday night and got to my apartment in Hanam at about ten o'clock at night (KST). I actually started work the next day, which is why I've been kind of remiss on updating the blog this week. I was just WAY too tired.

The flight went really well. I had two layovers. in Houston and in San Fransisco, which stunk, but once I got on the final plane to take me from the US to South Korea, I definitely felt better. I flew Singapore Air, which is amazing. Sadly, I didn't take a lot of pics, but here are a few of the ones I did snap.

View of the plane in front of me. You can kind of see that the chairs are larger and each one has its own entertainment center, which was fantastic for the fourteen hour flight.
The second meal I was served. The first one was actually way more delicious-looking, but I scarfed it down before I thought to take a pic. This was way better than it looks, BTW.
The people at the school are really nice, and the kids are extremely adorable. I'll try to take pics/video inside the school one of these days. For now, here's a tour of my apartment:

I worked hard all week and then on Saturday, after our school had an open house, one of my co-workers and I went to the COEX mall in Seoul, which is the largest underground shopping center in Asia (and believe me, we only scratched the surface), and then ate dinner in the city. Next time I go into Seoul, I'll have to try to take more pictures! I keep getting caught up in the moment and forgetting I have a camera, haha!

Talk to you soon!

I would ask that the next person to visit Papa show him that, since he doesn't have internet! Thanks!!

So then I started a blog.

I decided to start this mostly so that I could share stories and pictures with friends and family back home more easily. I will be leaving in the next week or so to begin my job in Hanam-si, South Korea.

This is the city location; I realize this means next to nothing to a lot of you, though! The city is about 45 minutes outside of central Seoul and is classified as a "satellite city." It is also about 50 minutes away by bus from the town that my best friend Carly will be teaching in. Hanam is really pretty small for a Korean city, but I certainly don't mind that. It has all of the conveniences I could need, including the Emart (sort of a Korean answer to Walmart) that is literally a five minute walk from my apartment.

This is the website for the school I will be teaching at, if anyone is interested. It's in Korean, but you can poke around and be wowed by the cute kids, if you like! I'm really excited about this experience, and I hope to be able to report back about the good time I am having! I'll update more as the date approaches closer! Thank you for reading!
